It's never over!

... unless you spend all your life in the same place, you'll have to come out again and again. What a hassle!

Everybody just assumes you're heterosexual and every new person you meet will have to be informed again.

I start getting tired of the whole thing, seriously!

Interesting strories. it's true coming out over and over again is a hassle and not our responsibilty. Str8's don't feel any oligations to say...Hi, I'm Jim and I am str8.

Why do we continually feel we should be broadcasting what we do in bed to other people? Do Str8's have to tell what positions they are using in bed or if they are having affairs?

It's nobody's business, unless you want to make it somebody elses business.

Just my opinion

messy.... I didnt choose to tell them, but my mother was listening in on a phone call on the other phone downstairs. family conference called, dad had me down to see every shrink possible, said i wasnt 'from his loins' (LOL!) and then leapt up to beat it from me because i wasnt backing down to him. Sister called me a freak and asked how i could do it to the family and my mother was racked with catholic guilt! Not a fun time. But that was 20 years ago now, and my father died having never made his peace with me. When he died i wasnt moved at all, despite him being my father (in practically name only....) but that was his choice and apparently it was his biggest regreat. Oh well, he had 12 years to change things, he just wouldnt/couldnt.

Everyone else is fine with it all now and wouldnt change me. Am glad they know

Coming Out

I was 19-1/2. I had been having sex with other boys for about 2 years, but it wasn't until I was 19-1/2 that I kissed a guy for the first time. At the end of that night I said to my friend "How could anything that feels this good be wrong?" This as 1968 and I can guarantee you I had not read that anywhere.

Frightening

First person I came out to was my mom! lol....for some reason I started crying as soon as the words were coming out...I guess I was afraid of her disowning, being that she's very religous. Even I though I know its something she would never do, it still kind of bothered me...it wasn't the easiest thing for her to understand, but then again it wasn't so easy for me either, even though I've always known. After I told her, we both didn't talk bout it for while. Ocassionally the subject would come up, either because someone else came out, or we were watching something on tv regarding the subject. and I would tell her, you know, that it wasn't a choice, I didn't just wake up someday and decided to be gay, and to live a more difficult life than your average "straight" human being. It's something that I've struggled with a lot at first. But now she's more understanding and have a different perspective about it.

I came out recently, in August this year. These days I had first serious relationship (not only sex dates) and I was tired about lieing where I was last 3 days and nights :). So I told it to my mother. She was ok, only in first moment she told something like "Im not sure you're old enought to know that you're interesting about boys only ... maybe you didnt meet realy good girl yet" :)))) (I'm 20). Now it's absolutely ok. Afterthat i started to be open about my sexual orientation - if disscussion with friend(s) is about relationships, girlfriends, boyfriends, sex ... etc... - I tell I'm gay. No one told me something very negative or hateful (fact is im old and clever enought and i ended all friendships with people which is openly homophobic, when I thought i'm gay 3 years ago) someone was surprised ... more friends told me "I suspected that you're not interesting about girls". :)
And now I feel much better than before. I ask to myself, why I was waiting so long. :)

I came out when I was 32, and it was the best decision I ever made. Life is a whole lot better.

I came out 5 years ago to my family, and then to my friend. It was largely a non-event. The thing is, they already knew, so they basically said: "what took you so long?"

Yeah, non-event like I said.

Woah! I always liked such topic... :D Once I read a story about the coming out that was forced by his parents. They asked him to sit next to them, and his mom said "Son, you're gay!" It was when he was 13 years old or so... I wish my parents are more like them... :(

I haven't "officially" come out, but when I was just starting puberty my brother found a bunch of gay porn on my computer and told my mother. I'm sure they know, and if they've forgotten then I'm in no rush to remind them.

I was 16 at my first job (that was 20 years ago!). Two years later, I told my mother, and she said "I already knew" Hahaha! Now 20 years later I still haven't told my father. Go figure. He's too old fashioned, raised in the belief that fags are for jokes and making fun of. He's mellowed out, but I still have no real reason to tell him. It doesn't bother me like it used to. :)

I came out when I was 26 after having a 2 year relationship while in the military. Never regretted coming out when I did.
